This year, the LTA Annual Safety, Health & Environment Awards Convention (ASAC) 2024 marked a significant milestone for the CR101 project by MCC Singapore. The project was recognised with the Accident-Free Recognition Award in Category 1a for civil contracts exceeding $120 million, reflecting the project's dedication to safety with over two million accident-free man-hours achieved.
The ASAC, which began in 1999, acknowledges contractors that proactively promote Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management practices at their worksites, ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of workers while also prioritising public and environmental safety. The award ceremony, hosted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) at Republic Polytechnic, celebrated organisations with LTA contracts for their outstanding safety, health, and environmental practices. Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Sustainability and the Environment, graced the event, further reinforcing LTA's ongoing commitment to improving workplace safety, health and environment (SHE) and ensuring worker well-being.
At this year's event, 50 organisations were honoured for their excellence in workplace safety, health, and environmental management during the 26th Annual Safety, Health, and Environmental Awards Convention (ASAC). The recognition of the CR101 project at the LTA ASAC 2024 not only acknowledges its remarkable achievement of over two million accident-free man-hours but also underscores MCC Singapore's unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards. As Singapore's infrastructure expands, particularly in its land transport sector, the CR101 project exemplifies the importance of integrating rigorous safety, health, and environmental protocols into complex civil engineering works. The award serves as a testament to the project's proactive approach to safeguarding its workforce, fostering a culture of safety that prioritises both worker well-being and environmental stewardship.
As MCC Singapore continues to contribute to Singapore's infrastructure growth, this accolade will serve as both a benchmark and an inspiration for future projects to strive toward a zero-accident environment. It highlights the importance of safety not just as a regulatory requirement but as a core value that ensures the long-term sustainability and success of large-scale civil projects.
